RosieSoCosy Twitch overlays painting a pumpkin in Krita
Painting a pumpkin in Krita

I haven't been live on Twitch in nearly 2 years. The short version, I got sick. The usual seasonal stuff. As I was recovering from that my youngest got seriously ill (unrelated to my illness). And with countless stays at the Children's Hospital (far from home) my life was literally upside down. So far, there have been 9 longer stays, and several emergency room days.

Things have calmed down a bit in the past 6 months. Knock on wood. Because autumn is here, which means there's an increased risk and a good chance we will end up at the hospital again.

Besides my son's health, my own health also took a few hits. I have been trying to get better. Spoiler alert, I haven't.

But I really miss streaming. I miss my community. I feel bad for not streaming. Even if it's not my fault. And autumn is my favourite season. The first RosieSoCosy Twitch animations I did were those of autumn, because I planned on streaming in autumn (and I did).

But I haven't been able to change my stream animations for the other seasons yet. After some drama being scammed by a (previously legitimate) Adobe reseller earlier this year I no longer have access to CC and After Effects. Which means I cannot create my new animations. I cannot afford a new subscription to Adobe CC (not even just After Effects to be honest). And to make matters worse, in this case at least, I moved to Linux earlier this year. And Adobe on Linux is just a no go. Barely works, if you can get it to work at all.

I am slowly getting my OBS and Streamer.bot in order to start streaming again. Many things don't work like they did on Windows. It takes a lot of replacing and getting used to new programs.

Now Krita isn't exactly new to me. But with ProCreate on my iPad. and PaintTool SAI and Photoshop on the PC in the past, there was no reason to really embrace Krita. Until now I guess?

I wanted to see if I still got it. Drawing on my Wacom, this time on Linux (openSUSE). I am not unhappy with the practice pumpkin.

Maybe it's time to start saving for a bigger, newer Wacom tablet, or something similar. But for now I am using my big old trusty Intuos tablet. It seems to work.
